Employer Info Sessions – What They Are:

Employer Info Sessions are excellent ways to learn about career and employment opportunities in the areas of the world you are interested in.  Many employers who recruit English language teachers take advantage of our Employer Information Sessions to meet face-to-face with our teachers to share information about their organizations and employment opportunities through them.

Why Go:

It is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the organization and meet company representatives in a less formal situation than an interview. It also gives you the chance to tell the recruiter(s) about your qualifications and experience. You have the opportunity to ask questions and learn if their employment opportunities are the right fit for you.

What To Expect

  • The information session will start with a presentation by the employer, usually including
an overview of the company and specific information about the positions advertised
  • A group “question and answer” usually follows the presentation
  • After this, teachers typically have a chance to speak with the recruiters individually, or in small groups

How to Prepare

  • Research the company thoroughly
  • Prepare a list of questions to ask
  • Prepare a 20 second summary outlining your skills, qualifications, and experience
  • Practice your 20 second summary with a friend
