GlobalFest is an annual cultural celebration in Calgary.The festival is held every August since 2003, and is organized by The Calgary Fireworks Festival Society’.
GlobalFest consists of the OneWorld Festival with 21 Cultural Pavilions, 14 ethnic food kiosks and the International Fireworks Festival. The International Fireworks Festival is held at Elliston Park in Southeast Calgary. Each night of the festival showcases a different nation. Participants attend by invitation of the organizers. Pyrotechnic displays take place over Elliston Park and are synchronized to music, thus the term ‘pyromusical’. The designers have utilized fireworks launched from platforms on the water to some that bounce off the water. From there, the sky is truly the limit. This is why thousands flock to Elliston Park, to experience the music and the full panorama of the fireworks; something you cannot relate to if you watch from any distance outside the park.
